Wolfgang Puck. The name is synonymous with California cooking, healthful food and humane treatment of animals-or perhaps just with gourmet pizza with smoked salmon and caviar. Puck is the founder of a restaurant empire that spans from Maui to Los Angeles to Las Vegas to Atlantic City. He's got cookware, cookbooks, catering and a whole host of all things culinary under his belt. His second restaurant, Chinois on Main-Chinois is French for Chinese-debuted in Santa Monica, Calif., in 1983 in what was previously a Main Street Bar. Now it's a sophisticated Asian bistro, bustling with people and brimming with quality fusion cooking. Beyond trendy, this Asian eatery has true staying power.
